STAR ATLAS:
Anthems from the Outer Rim
We produced and released Anthems of the Outer Rim – Summer Edition during Star Atlas Community Week 2025, blending custom music, animation, and video into a one-of-a-kind album that gave guilds their own anthems and showed how far Subverted Norms’ creative skills have expanded.
The Situation
Community Week is Star Atlas’s annual spotlight on its thriving player-driven metaverse. Guilds had strong identities, but they lacked a cultural thread to tie them together—a sonic experience that captured their essence. Subverted Norms recognized an opportunity to do more than just design or build websites: we could create something living, artistic, and unexpected. The vision? An original album of anthems, each built around a different guild’s lore, aesthetic, and personality.

Insights
Where most agencies would have produced a simple soundtrack, we went further. Each anthem was a unique piece—different genre, lyrics, and visuals—crafted with the same process we apply to design, merch, and branding. That meant lore research, custom songwriting, full-scale music production, lyric animations, and video editing. In other words, the project wasn’t just about music. It was a showcase of Subverted Norms’ evolution into a truly multi-disciplinary creative agency—bridging design, storytelling, music, and motion. We broke it all down in our behind-the-scenes blog.
Results
The launch of Anthems of the Outer Rim – Summer Edition hit exactly as intended: it surprised, entertained, and united the Star Atlas community. Guild members recognized themselves in the songs—from the industrial chants of Bulk to the outlaw rock of Skull and Bones and the swanky jazz ballad for The Bounty Bar. With every lyric and every visual, the project added cultural depth to the Star Atlas metaverse. Most importantly, it showed that Subverted Norms isn’t just a web and merch agency—we’re a creative lab capable of producing cross-medium experiences. Released independently and celebrated across the community, the project became both a tribute and a time capsule of Community Week 2025. Fans can still revisit the full drop via our Twitter release.
